Individual canoe/kayak tour

Get out of the big city and into nature on this independent self-guided tour, using our information package and detailed itinerary along the way. Take in the stunning landscape from a unique perspective along the most beautiful section of the Danube, experience some of the Hungarian countryside, and relax on the beautiful shores between Zebegény and Verőce.

Individuals, families and smaller groups are all welcome to our full day, kayak/canoe programme in the Danube bend. This programme is available May 6 - September 30 on any pre-arranged day. We will teach you the basics to prepare you, if you do not have previous kayak / canoe experience. We also provide a full information package with a map including all possible stops, beaches, bars and eateries on the way and the exact itinerary to the final destination.

The price of the program is HUF 8,000 (EUR 25) / person, HUF 6,000 (EUR 18,25) / kid under 14 including:

- fully equipped solid and comfortable 1-2-3-4 prs kayaks or canoes ( depending on your choice and availability) with lifejackets and waterproof barrels
- complete paddling and navigating instructions
- detailed briefing on rules and safety measures
- a detailed information package about the area
- transportation of the boats back to Zebegény at the end of the tour

Individual departure from Budapest Nyugati station. Please take the Vác-Szob train to Zebegény that departs at 10.07 AM – approx. 55 min. We will meet you at Zebegény station and walk with you to the starting point on beach, where you will get the equipment, instructions and information package.

Route and distance - 16 km, approximately 5 hours (including stops) along the Danube
Zebegény (one of the loveliest villages in Hungary) – Dömös pass (scenic landscape, fast-flowing water) - Nagymaros (great bars and eateries) - Visegrád ( Royal Palace) - Kisoroszi (pebble stoned romantic beach) - Verőce (end station, a pretty little town with shore side eateries)

At cc 17:00 the program ends in Verőce. Individual train ride back to Budapest Nyugati train station - 35 minutes.


The full price should be transferred to our bank account within one working day of receipt of our confirmation email.
We accept registrations minimum 3 days prior to the selected date.

To maximise the experience, we recommend that you do this tour on a weekday, when it is less touristy and the motorboat traffic on the waterway is not significant. However, we accept registrations for week-ends as well.

If heavy rain or wind above 25 km/h is forecast, tours will be cancelled for safety reasons and we reimburse your money without deduction or postpone the trip for a mutually agreed date.

You must be a confident swimmer for this program.
Before leaving the shore you will need to sign a statement that we will send with our confirmation e-mail. We will also send additional useful information about proper attire and other matters.

Our experience is that this tour is not suitable for kids under the age of 8.

This program is a perfect match with the Esztergom-Zebegény full day kayak/canoe tour. When combining the two programmes you can wild camp overnight on the Zebegény Island or on the shore for free. We can provide tents and equipment at an affordable price.   

Upon prior request, we can provide an English speaking tour guide exclusively for your group or family.
